Oh my word, the babies at the Eagles Nest Orphanage are so adorable. It just breaks your heart. It is so hard to put them down when we have to leave and go do something else. The government here has put a hold on all adoptions to the US since last fall. They have heard that possibly they might start them back up in May. There are a couple of kids here that have families approved and waiting for them.....just the waiting on the government to open the adoptions back up. We need to pray hard for this to happen, otherwise these precious children will never be a part of a family. We have all had a great time so far. Bradley and Gary have been working away at the installation of the security system while Mandy, Ashley, Morgan and Lisa have been working on making quilts. No matter how many mission trips you go on you never get used to seeing so much poverty and sadness. We have many stories to tell!

Today would have been my moms 74 Birthday. For as long as I can remember my mom had this birthday poem she would say on our birthdays. As we got older it got to be annoying and we always teased her about it and it irritated her as we made fun of her saying it. What I would give to be able to hear her say it today.

She always said I never said it just right, but this is how I remember it:

Many happy returns for the day of thy birth
May sunshine and gladness be given
May your heavenly father prepare thee on earth
For a beautiful birthday in Heaven

I know she is having a beautiful in heaven today.

Unbelievable private dinner party NAA had for us at the Culinary Institute of America! It was some amazing food!! After dinner we had an interactive dessert - where we learned how to make what they served us. That was what I meant by tasty little town in my other post.....!!

Thanksgiving is not just a Holiday, it truly is a time to stop and reflect on the many things we are thankful for. We are truly thankful for the family God has blessed us with. It has been hard to look forward to the holidays since Lisa's mom passed away. We could not have made it through this day without the love and support of our family and our friends. Thanks for all the emails, text messages, cards and calls. Never take for granted the time you have to spend with your family.

Saturday at MU this is what we found in the parking lot as we were leaving Hearns Areana to head home....can you believe someone parked their truck with the deer they hunted down that morning in the back of the truck!! We figured they were sitting in another vehicle watching people react as they walked by and noticed it.....dumb rednecks. I bet the great Tucker Hunters would never do anything like this.....would they?

Hillcrest Cheerleaders did a great job at State Competition! They got all 12 points (that is the most you can get for your performance based on requirements for the routine) and 2 bonus points!!

Well, I very seldom use my emergency brake, but I guess there is a reason why we should! Our neighbors at the lake were getting a load of dirt when the truck that was delivering it went down their driveway on its own into our garage!! Could have been worse....just can't believe it didn't take out the golf cart or refrigerator which are both about to go out....figures!!

Well we found the hotel we stayed at 20 years ago when we came to NYC with High Street on a mission trip! It has a new name but was pretty much the same ... as best we could remember!

You really couldn't see much at Ground Zero....it was a huge hole under construction and they had a big covered fence around it. But it was a little eerie to walk around it and see all the huge buildings around it still standing. What it must have been like to be in one of those buildings and watch this all take place.

Central park was beautiful and we couldn't believe how big it was. We walked to it Sunday night around midnight which didn't make Lisa very happy (it really wasn't smart, but oh well) we went back the next morning when it was a little bit safer.....and we made a stop at the today show.....which was fun.

It was a great weekend and so much fun to be able to pull off a surprise for Lisa....can't wait to see what she will do for me on our 22nd Anniversary next year........!!

What an experience riding the subway to Brooklyn to eat at Franny's........An amazing restaurant that our friend Neki Davis manages.....it was truly a New York Eating Experience....their menu changes every day as they only use fresh local ingredients and you can tell it when you taste their food. They made our soda fresh from scratch.....cherry limeade and grape soda! It was great....thanks Neki and friends!

Then we ate at Max Brenner's Chocolate by the Bald Man......not much of a food menu.....but an outstanding dessert menu or should we say book. Thank you for the recommendation Jan as this was truly a sweet experience....we had never been to a Chocolate Restaurant! It was packed and what a fun place to break all the rules.....dessert for dinner!!

Lisa had no idea where we were going until we got to the airport yesterday morning.....I surprised her with a trip to NYC for our 21st Anniversary. The last time we were here was in 1988....20 years ago. We ate at a place called Maxies last night.....huge portions of food and it was so good. We also went to see Wicked last night.....that was amazing.....unbelievable performers. We walked around today just seeing the sites (and the weirdos) of NYC. We had lunch with Ron & Susan Taylor and their kids Noah & Ally - we took them to Toys R Us in Time Square....it is huge and has a Ferris Wheel in the store! It was fun. We found the hotel we stayed at 20 years go...it had changed names but was still there. Heading out to see more sites and eat more great food tonight.

Well, the pain medication Bradley is taking from having his wisdom teeth removed is working, there is no pain.....however, it hasn't done much for his hair.......or his conversation. I wish we would have been recording the things he was talking about. Jeff (Bradley future broher-in-law) you need to ask him if he remembers what he said about you during his medicated state of mind.

Well, here are a few pictures from Ecuador-there is a construction team here this week working on an addition to one of their churches.

Walking into Arlington Cemetery we ran into Trace Adkins! He was just walking in like he was just your average tourist. He was so friendly and very country! He is so much taller than we expected!

Last year I didn't go to DC with Gary and he got to tour the White House. So this year he surprised me and set up for me to tour the White House. But it tourned out to be so much more than just a tour.....President Busch was returning home today, and our "connection" that gave me my tour asked if I wanted to come back later today and watch the President land on the White House lawn......da!

So this afternoon I went back to the White House and stood in the "backyard" and welcomed home the President. It was amazing to see the 3 Helicopters fly around the building and the one with the President come in and land. We could hear them long before we could see them. The cold air from the helicopter was strong enough to blow you over!

When they landed a soldier got out and opened the doors, the first person to get out was a man that looked similar to the President and at first we thought he was him.....then when the President came out.....we realized they were dressed exactly the same.....hmmmm?

When he walked down the steps of the helicopter he stopped and saluted the soldier....that was really cool.....then he walked in to the White House smiling and waving as he walk toward the building. It was so much fun and such a cool thing to see! Thanks Gary!!

POWER OUTAGE

Last night when we returned to our hotel there was no power! There had been a fire in an underground feeder and caused a power outage in our nieghborhood!! It didn't come back on until 5:15am - we are so glad they had back up lights so we could see to get to our room!! It was intersting to say the least!

The Omni Shoreham really is a beautiful place with the lights on....it is a very historical hotel. The President for years have had their inaugural balls here, the Beattles rented out a whole floor here their first visit to DC, international dignataries who came to DC for President Kennedy's funeral all stayed here, and on and on. It is full of amazing historical events and stories.

Gary just returned from a medical mission trip to the Philippines with a group of 14 from High Street Baptist Church. They saw over 800 patients and had over 50 people accept Christ as their savior as a result of their efforts.
