....while Ashley, Aunt Sandy and Jesse were having lunch this lady decided to walk over from the hair salon next door and have some lunch too ... while her hair processed ..... can you believe she didn't get it to go??? Can you believe she didn't send someone else to get it for her?????
COUNTRY STAR IN DC
Walking into Arlington Cemetery we ran into Trace Adkins! He was just walking in like he was just your average tourist. He was so friendly and very country! He is so much taller than we expected!
Last year I didn't go to DC with Gary and he got to tour the White House. So this year he surprised me and set up for me to tour the White House. But it tourned out to be so much more than just a tour.....President Busch was returning home today, and our "connection" that gave me my tour asked if I wanted to come back later today and watch the President land on the White House lawn......da!So this afternoon I went back to the White House and stood in the "backyard" and welcomed home the President. It was amazing to see the 3 Helicopters fly around the building and the one with the President come in and land. We could hear them long before we could see them. The cold air from the helicopter was strong enough to blow you over!
When they landed a soldier got out and opened the doors, the first person to get out was a man that looked similar to the President and at first we thought he was him.....then when the President came out.....we realized they were dressed exactly the same.....hmmmm?
When he walked down the steps of the helicopter he stopped and saluted the soldier....that was really cool.....then he walked in to the White House smiling and waving as he walk toward the building. It was so much fun and such a cool thing to see! Thanks Gary!!
POWER OUTAGE
Last night when we returned to our hotel there was no power! There had been a fire in an underground feeder and caused a power outage in our nieghborhood!! It didn't come back on until 5:15am - we are so glad they had back up lights so we could see to get to our room!! It was intersting to say the least!
The Omni Shoreham really is a beautiful place with the lights on....it is a very historical hotel. The President for years have had their inaugural balls here, the Beattles rented out a whole floor here their first visit to DC, international dignataries who came to DC for President Kennedy's funeral all stayed here, and on and on. It is full of amazing historical events and stories.

Great family style restaurant we ate at last night in DC that was AMAZING.....they bring you GIGANTIC portions Italian food that is so tasty (Burch...that was for you) There's one in KC......Road Trip!
